Not only is Jim knowledgeable and honest, he goes the extra mile for us, such as searching junk yards for usable parts and suggesting less expensive alternatives (yet safe and reliable) repairs. He's tops!

If your primary criteria is trust, then Jim is your guy. I had some squeeky brakes that took a few visits to finally solve, but the additional visits didn't cost me anything. Jim promised me that as long as I kept bringing back the car- because he didn't have a lot of experience with Volvos- he'd take care of the problem. And I think it took a while, because he kept trying to find reasonably-priced solutions for me (ex. grinding down the rotors and installing gently-used parts). The time cost to me was worth it, because he treated me right even though my schedule was unflexible (several weeks before I could return the car). He is equally as good with my wife, and the bus picks up across the street.

I called to have my clutch replaced. It took a while because they were so busy, but they did a good job on the repair. They replaced with used parts where possible to save money, and the price was as good as anywhere I checked. The only thing I worry about is I asked them to let me know after they checked it out how much extra it would cost to replace the oil pan. Without checking with me they went ahead and replaced it. It didn't cost much more and saved me a lot, but I stll wish they would have checked with me earlier...

Jim's is consistently honest, fixes problems quickly and is fair-priced. They have serviced a variety of cars for my wife and I over the past 10 years, and we've never been disappointed in any of the repairs or the transactions. Jim has gone from a dinky two car non-air conditioned garage with a grease-shmeared countertop to a large operation with excellent amenities for customers and mechanics. He got there by being honest, competent and fair-priced. I am a biased customer, yes, because they've done right by me.

Went in for a radiator flush- only cost $50 and took about an hour. Nice, clean location. No problems, good people. Will definitely go again.

I no longer go to Jim's because they are further away since their move to a bigger space but I used to use him all the time for everything big and small. He is a nice, honest, friendly guy, and relatively inexpensive. However his hours are not the most convenient-no weekends at all, closes at 5PM. They did make some mistakes including putting my brake pads on backwards and not realizing this even after I had taken the car back several times because the brakes continued to squeak. Still, if it wasn't for his relocating I would continue to use him and recommend him to others.

I feel lucky that I stumbled into Jim's when I moved to the neighborhood. He is an honest, good person who cares about his business. His shop has never left me feeling like I was screwed over. He got things fixed, charged reasonable prices, and never tried to upsell me on anything I didn't need. Sometimes he did quick things for free. When the car had some enigmatic issues, he personally worked on it rather than having his staff do the work. He has a talent for diagnosing strange problems. The only bad things I would say about Jim's is that they are not very good about calling you to tell you when things are ready to pickup and about communicating what the problems are. They are also not particularly good about getting things done quickly. I think that all of these problems are due to the fact that they are typically overwhelmed with business. But overall, the honesty and the actual fixes that I get from this shop are well worth the other minor inconveniences.
