Nothing really extraordinary. Art is hardworking, honest, competent and reasonably priced. He has over 30 years experience.

One day I was driving down the road minding my own business, when some nut in front of me slams on the brakes after a quik start from a stop light I had started to go only with not room to move in I Hit the jerk. When I started up again my muffler had some thing wrong with it so off to Art to have him look at it I did. Art exclaimed "Well, here's your problem,"while the car was up on the lift,"your muffer has be come detached from the exhaust pipe. Not to mention that this is Midas crap." It sounded pretty bad to my teenage ears. Next came, "I would have to replace the whole system with Volvo pairs to do a quality job. It would cot around 400 dollars." At the sound of a large some of money my eye rolled back into my head and I felt faint. Art then said," Take it to Midas It won't cost nearly as much." He must have see me grow pail faced before his eyes. Art was right it only cst about $220 there and they still had to replace everthing from the first muffer on out. Today January, 10, 2000, My car over heated and need a temp. sensor replaced. This was very easy and simple to do but, then my car couldn't or wouldn't run very long. Art must have tinkered with the car for 15 minutes before deciding it was the Air Mass Sensor that needed to be replaced. He told me the cost and I was awash in dimay. How could a mostly hollow tube cost 500 dollars. So Now what to do I ask myself. I have to get it and I can't afford it my parents are going to kill me for getting this car in the first place. Art calmly suggests an alternative to going in debt. A used part is definately cheaper and will last a long time anyway because it has been refurbished. After puting the part in and getting my car started (it continues to run this time) He calls for how much the used part runs for, the answer is $150.00 and on the parts bill (no labor cost because of the sudden problem) Art writes down only $125.00 for it instead. I had barely enough money to cover all the costs today but, I feel confident that Art can be trusted with my car and no one else.

I was very happy with the service I received at Art Works
on my Volvo V70. The Volvo dealership told me it was going
to be over $1000 to fix a revving problem, and Art Works
was able to take care of the problem for $65. I feel like I
can trust the mechanics' advice and I am confident that
they are not trying to rake me over the coals. I highly
recommend this for Volvo care.

Art takes care of our 1985 240 DL and our 1993 960. He has kept the 1985 on the road through the driving careers of 4 teen age boys.

Wow, Art is really a trooper and a friendly, helpful
mechanic. Our Volvo got one of those mysterious shorts in
its electrical system (the type that Volvos tend to get)
and he was so patient and more importantly frugal in
getting to the bottom of it. We'll definately go to Art
Works as long as we own a Volvo!

Art has always done a great job with our 1984 240. He is
quick to recommend cheaper alternatives to repairs or even
tell you if you can fix it yourself.

Art is a man with great integrity and his employees seem
to be the same. They only repair Volvos and are very
knowlegable about all of the models.Art keeps a book for
his customers that lists either your Volvo for sale or
will tell you if he has one listed in the book if you ask
for a particular model. He is very helpful!

I have NEVER been more impressed by an auto shop, owner and
employees! Art is the most knowledgeable, personable and
generous person I've ever encountered in the business. He
works ONLY on Volvo; he makes sure all his employees are
certified as Volvo mechanics and he does a lot of work for
free...like a friend would... like a lot of neighborhood
mechanics used to... it builds good relationships with the
customers and ensures repeat business. He has two parrots
in the shop (Macaws, actually); a red and a blue...feisty
things, but interesting.
I had an old '83 240 4dr that had a lot wrong with it..one
day, I lost reverse...scared the hell out of me since I
darn well knew *that* would be expensive..Volvo parts
aren't cheap...if I had taken that car into *anyone* else,
I'd have paid for a new transmission or a rebuild, at
least. But Art knew it was just a fuse...a 15 cent fuse!
The info wasn't even in the Volvo shop manual! I'd still
be going there if he worked on Toyota vehicles...but, man,
if I ever get another Volvo, I'm headed straight for Art
Works!
