no nonsense shop.

We used to live nearby and took our Saturn and Subaru in occasionally for numerous small problems. Misha doesn't smile much, but he's honest, very knowledgeable, and never charged me to diagnose a problem even if I elected to fix it myself. And very quick. Never needed an appointment with repairs usually completed within the hour. A great shop.

I used to be more of a car guy than I am now so it was a little embarrassing when I took my '98 Ford Ranger in for power steering pump noise and all that was needed was a little fluid! Misha, the boss, checked it out himself and was ready to send me on my way no-charge. I asked him to take it in for the day and give it a once over while doing the oil change (here is the invitation for the not-so-honest to find plenty of things wrong). I also asked him change the serpentine belt since the truck has 180,000 miles and I think I changed it back around 90,000. Anyway, he checked it all out and found a few things like worn bearings that we could work on next time if they seem to get worse. He charged me $125 for an oil change, belt change, air filter change, and to keep quite about the power steering fluid incident.

They were great. Clutch replacement was a bit expensive, but they explained why, and I feel they were very honest. Also very fast. I've dealt with a couple rather incompetent mechanics recently, so I'm pleased to find Taskar.

I cannot say enough good things about Misha and Taskar Garage. I would never take any of my cars anywhere else. Every time I call around for a quote, I am SHOCKED that they are able to keep their prices so competitive (actually half the price on more than one occasion). Truth be told, I don't even call around anymore. They always do excellent work in a timely manner, and they won't try to talk you into any unnecessary fixes. We have taken him some pretty complicated jobs, including an 03 VW 1.8T timing belt job that requires disassembling the entire front of the car, and everything is always done the same day. We have a Subaru, a Volkswagen, and a Ford. This is a truly honest mechanic who knows what they are doing.

I've had my Ford Ranger in there 2 times and have had more than satisfactory results. Also, brought a driveshaft out of my GMC van there, and he was willing to work on it. The price he charged me on my clutch replacement was quite reasonable. In fact, it was almost half of one other estimate. The only issue I can see, or hear, is that he has a rather thick accent and can be a bit hard to understand at times. I must admit, this made me hesitant at first, but I am glad I got over it. Furthermore, he has always made the effort to communicate and to explain what work was done.
