This is an old-school auto shop. There's a smell of grease
and oil is in the air whenever you go into the shop. I don't
recall ever seeing any hydrolic lifts, just lots of jack stands.
I found this shop by acciedent when my MPV threw a fan belt
on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The were the closest shop that
was open and worked on Mazdas. I wasn't expecting much just
a someplace to have the car towed to and get fixed. They
were very nice and did good work. When the belt failed seven
or eight months later, they replace it for no charge.
After I became disenchanted with my local mechanic, I
started taking my car to Emerald City to be serviced and
repaired. They've always listened to my expliantions of the
cars problems. They've never talk down or over me or my
wife. They've always explained what they've done, what
should be done, and what repairs can be put off. They've
stay open late so that I can pick my car.
Their shop is a stone's throw or two east of Safeco Field.
That's good, there are a lot bus options (the bus tunnel
corridor is only a block away). But, that's also my only
knock, it's in that light industrial area along 4th Ave S.
I've never felt unsafe, but I don't think I'd want to hang
out there overnight.
All in all, they are one of the best auto shops that I've
ever taken a car to.

What a great place to visit just like going back in time or
taking a trip down memory lane! The 50s service station and
automotive museum decor and old fashion service can not be
beat it reminds you of the good old days when the customer
really matters and the customer & service were number one.
Car was done on time and at a fair price I have already told
a few coworkers and they have all come back and thanked me
for the great tip on a shop they can trust. Being a female
that is very important to be able to trust them. You can't
go wrong with the guys and gals at Emerald City Auto Repair.
