I had a problem with my car that another shop found
difficult to diagnose and repair. To Duane, the problem was
obvious and he fixed it quickly and inexpensively. Duane has
excellent abilities and is a pleasure to work with. I trust
him implicitly.

I experienced a problem with my Rabbit while at a sports car race some years ago (as a worker, not a racer.) A Formula-V driver and 2 Rabbit driver/mechanics couldn't figure it out. In desperation I called Duane because he also sets up ProRallye cars and periodically rallied a Rabbit. He not only found the problem, he thought it was so funny that he didn't charge me! That Rabbit is 21 yrs old and owned by my daughter now, still running nicely. Duane is excellent about giving options and not afraid to admit it when he doesn't have all the answers.

He did a clutch on my 78 280Z. It was slightly more money than some other places quoted, but I just had a good feeling about the operation. He did a fine job, even did a compression check (on request). Found a low cylinder and adjusted valves to bring it up to spec. Seems very consciencious and thorough, and didn't try to expand the job or pad the bill. I'd use him again in a minute.

The concrete qualities I look for when choosing a shop are experience,
intelligence, knowledge, and honesty. Not only does Duane and his shop
excel at each of these "concrete" measures every time I speak with them or
bring my car in, it's clear to see that the atmosphere is one of kindness and
caring, making them great people to work with. A couple anecdotes: I
needed the oil in my 2001 Passat changed before driving across country.
Even though I brought it to Duane the day before I left, he made time to do it
that day. Because he knew I was making a long trip, he checked out the rest
of the car, and found a torn CV boot and several other problems. He didn't
have time to fix any before I left. Despite this meaning that I would have to
take it to another mechanic en route instead of him, he still took the time to
discuss recommendations that the CV boot had to be replaced, but that the
other things could wait (I'm on a budget). Duane was also the one who
inspected this car before I bought it and advised me on what work it would
need. These interactions highlighted his and his shop's clearly extensive
experience and great honesty.
