I had to get my tie rod replaced (recommended by Schmitz
Exxon) though I think it wasn't really necessary. After
getting quotes from several garages in the area I found
this Meineke to be MUCH cheaper; at least $100 lower.
After setting up an appointment and dropping it off, the
guy, Jay called a few hours later saying he ordered the
wrong part. I took it back and brought it in 2 days later
(he was too busy the next day). He fixed it up but when
driving it back home, I noticed a vibrating noise when
idling & on gearshift. When I called him the next day he
was reluctant to look at it, but finally agreed. He
hurriedly inspected it and said that it MIGHT be the low
transmission fluid or a host of other things. I took it to
the Exxon down the road and they found the problem to be
some misaligned exhaust pipe; it looked to them that
something hit the underside of the car.
In conclusion, I'd say I might have had a one-time bad
experience, but the guy was definately not the most
helpful. They are extremely cheap though, but its your
trip.
They do drop you off if you live/work close-by; theres
also a major bus transfer point down the road.
