I took my '98 VW to VolksWerks based on the recommendations here at Car Talk. And to make the decision a complete act of faith (and to work around my travel schedule), I dropped the car off, got the work done, and picked the car up without ever meeting Ted or the team at VolksWerks, just talking with them on the phone. Simply put, they did a great job and I will use them from now on for all my work. They were thorough, clearly expert, practical about repairs vs. replacement of parts vs. leaving well enough alone, fair about labor time and costs, explained everything in detail, and did rock solid work. I've never worked with a mechanic before who left me feeling so confident that my car was properly repaired.

VolksWerks calls itself "The Dealer Alternative" and having been to all of the local dealers for work and/or quotes for various family VW's and Audi's - this customer agrees. Ted and his staff do the utmost to explain their work, quoted, completed or needed, to their valued customers. They keep complete records of all work done and suggested and often recognise customers by name. I have recommended them to many other VW/Audi owners and they are still happy customers.

Ted & Co at V-Werks are Super !! If my mother drove a VW - and she would if she could find a Quantum - VolksWerks would be her mechanic of choice. They keep detailed records of all work done and further this by keeping a list of recommended work as well. Service, pricing and communication regarding work done are superior to all local dealership shops. The only challenge is to get an appointment - they are obviously very well thought of by their clients.

I have a lot of confidence and trust in the VolksWerks team. I would definately use them time and again. I have never gotten more thorough review of current and future repair needs. The area where they need to improve is in follow-up. I did not get a prompt response to several messages I left and never heard back on an email I sent. Two promised follow-up calls never materialized. It took a week to get an estimate completed. I had the same (great, thorough) update on three different calls before I quote a quote--a week later, which is unacceptable. Also, their labor rate on their web site is out of date. It has gone up by about $10 an hour.

My parents discovered Ted and Volkswerks when the VW dealership in this area screwed up their Jetta time and time again, refused to take responsibility for their mistakes, and overcharged them to boot. I bought a used VW cabrio after constant phone calls to Ted and the guys, and they really coached me through the process. I've had them do a lot of work on the car, and though sometimes I've had to wait a few weeks to get an appointment, I tell my non-VW owner friends that I wish Ted would work on other cars, because he's so great. He always tells me honestly what needs to be done, honors estimates and the reduced labor price if they were done before an increase, and tells me (a person of limited means) how immediate various repairs are. The only bad thing that happened was my coil was replaced and it went dead soon after while my mom was driving; but she took it to Ted (she was glad for the excuse to visit him!) and they replaced it, for free, immediately. I would never take my car anywhere else. Ted and the staff are all incredibly nice and helpful, and always pick up or drop off at the nearby East Falls Church Metro. They are usually open before and after their posted hours, too.

Their work is always great, but the price for the work on my TDI is always more than I'm comfortable with.

I found this shop during on Google. Their prices are on the low end for this area, although no one in N/VA is cheap any more. They went over the car and pointed out a few things that needed fixed. I asked them to fix one of the more difficult things and did the rest myself. They fixed a light that was out due to some corrosion in a lamp assembly and didn't charge me for it. They gave me some helpful advice on what to do. I talked to the owner about the VW's. We've owned 2 for a total of 20 years, and he knows them well. I would take mine back to him for anything I couldn't so myself.

Ted & Co. are great! After going to the dealer several times, with my Jetta, I had it. They kept finding something wrong with my car, and never fixed my transmission problem. Ted fixed my car the first I brought it to him. I have since sold my Jetta, and purchased two new VW. One of the reasons I stuck with VW's was because I knew I had Volkswerks to service them.

They made a mistake while fixing our car, but told us the truth and fixed the problem at no charge. They are VERY honest and competent!

They are a great source for recommendations of other shops. The recommended the shop we take our Honda to.
