I brought my 94 Subaru Legacy in with an A/C problem. Soon after I was told that it was an electrical problem and that further time would give up the problem/solution. Abe was always happy to answer my questions and really knew what he was talking about. Every day driving by I would see my car in the front being worked on and knew how time consuming an electrical problem could be. I liked the periodic emails with PDF files containing information and estimates for the work needed to be done, which made for easy storing and referencing. Even after I picked up the car, Abe sent me an email reminding me to fill my tank up and not to leave it less than 1/4 full in the summer (for fuel pump lubrication reasons). I really appreciated his honest work and would recommend him to anyone!!! I really appreciated his honest work and would recommend

I have been to AK auto twice now. Once I wanted the rear struts replaced. The second time to fix wobbling while braking. Abe explained what was necessary and why. He uses genuine toyota parts from World Pac. The prices are reasonable and the service great!

A K Auto has worked on 3 Toyotas for me and each time his estimate was accurate and reasonable. In one case, he was able to get a major repair done in one afternoon since it was for my daughter who was leaving for college the next day. He is extremely humble, but extraordinarily intelligent. His shop is a little operation, but is fully computerized and his receipts include all kinds of helpful advice to prolong the life of the car. I have owned Toyotas since 1978 and he's the best shop I've encountered.

The AC in my Honda stopped cooling. the dealership said I needed new AC clutch and coil, all totaling $800. I went to Abe. He said the total would be $450 for such a job. Then he checked and said that the AC clutch was fine and that I only needed a new coil. Total was $350 including labor. He was very honest, quick and efficient, especially given a very hot summer. The best service I got ever. I highly recommend Abe. He is an expert.

Abe and his staff are the best! They take time to explain everything, provide regular updates and accurate estimates and are honest. I found them here on CarTalk.com and thought that the reviews were too good to be true, they are true. Abe has worked on 2 of my cars and has gone out of his way to make sure I know what work was being done and alert me to upcoming repairs. Several times he has actually suggested against doing work that I asked about - and he has been right every time. I drive 20 miles out of my way to go to this place and its worth it.

I took the car in at about 4 p.m. on a Thursday; by 7:00 p.m. I had a detailed estimate to approve via email, followed up by a phone call. I approved. I picked up the car on Friday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. Repairs: replaced muffler & tail pipe, radiator, motor mount; flushed transmission. All work needed, speedily done, at a very reasonable price. Two weeks later, a follow-up phone call to make sure everything was running properly. Amazing!

I had to get wheel cylinders and brake shoes replaced on my rear wheels, get my brake fluid replaced, and have my valve cover gasket replaced. Big job and very expensive. I got estimates from five different shops, and AK Auto came in the cheapest: $78 cheaper than the next cheapest shop and $246 cheaper than the most expensive estimate. Their labor rate of $87 per hour (as of June 2009) is also a bit cheaper than the going rate in the area ($90-$115 per hour). Their estimate was also very detailed: it clearly showed the costs for every part (and sub part, like asbestos solvent) and labor breakdown, and the actual job came in within $1 of the estimate. Their parts prices were in-line with other area shops, but are a little more expensive than what you can buy yourself online (1A Auto.com, drivewire.com, thepartsbin.com, partsgeek.com, etc.) Location is within walking distance of the Vienna Metro station, so it's easy to drop your car off in the morning and get to work. The place isn't much to look at. It's a small shop that looks about 100 years old, but remember the old saying: Don't judge a book by its cover.
