I drove my Subaru Forrester to Range Creek last week with an archaeology crew to do field work. Everyone was driving big SUVs but one person said that someone made it to the destination with a Subaru the previous week. Since I was interested in saving a bit on fuel and take a couple of passengers I decided to give it a go. That was a mistake. The road was rough and the stream crossings very dicey. I nearly made it. If it were not for the gash in the radiator. The radiator was totally done for. I was stuck about 20 miles from the nearest paved road and behind an 8000 ft mountain pass. A tow truck was not an option. Thankfully, the archaeology crew had a satellite phone. I called Steve Smith's Auto and told them the situation. I arranged for someone to pick up their radiator DIY repair kit complete with radiator, clamps, fluids, funnels, etc... Richard at the shop said "don't worry we'll get you everything you need" and we'll settle this when you get back. The story has a happy ending and I've got to say that this shop is awesome!
