While driving on a local highway, I noticed my temp guage was very high. I exited the highway and headed for a local gas station to try and figure out what the problem was. While driving to the station I realized that my temp guage had come down and I resolved to ease my way towards my usual garage. I got the car there without overheating and popped the hood. When I looked at the motor it was obvious to me that everything around what seemed to be the water pump was wet and I immediately assumed I was in for a costly repair. Mr Rose had Junior take a look and at first, he said I might be right. He added water, took out a collapsable mirror and quickly diagnosed the real problem as pin holes in the tank. I was on my way within a couple of hours(they had to wait for the part) and the repair was well under $100.00. I've been driving for almost 30 years, have prided myself in being able to make minor repairs and do a lot of my own PM; I feel quite certain if I had stopped at the garage where I was NOT known the diagnosis would have been quite different. This is the third vehicle that we have had serviced by the Henry Rose Garage and we have been dealing with them since 1990. I have always found them to be fair, honest (both about cost and TIME needed for the repair) and reliable.

I have taken my 1993 Ford Tempo GL4 Door to Mr. Rose's garage sevral times since 1997, or so. I did not answer the question about his shop fixing screwups, because I have not had that happen yet, with one of their repairs. Since I am Male, I cannot answer about how they treat female customers. This shop is two blocks from my apartment, and is perfect for me to drop off the car for work. I last had them fix the car in July of 2004 (this is August, 2004), when they replace my cars Power Control Module. I can work on cars dating from 1985 and before, but when I looked through my Chilton's and Haynes Manuals, and repaired everything I could get to (don't know how to use a computer to read codes YET), I figured it was the PCM. I asked Mr. Rose to give me an estimate, and let me know if my diagnosis was correct - they did all of that, and gave me the OLD part as I had requested (I stare at the old, broken PCM when I'm mad at the car...)It cost me seven dollars over the estimate they gave me, and the car was ready when they said it would be. The only drawbacks about this garage are: 1. They are not open on weekends, and close at 3 PM on Fridays. I sometimes have had to juggle my schedule to work around that. 2. Mr. Rose is a mature gentleman, and I dread the day that he leaves the garage to another to run. I would go back to this garage for my next problem without hesitation. Thanks for the opportunity to speak out. I love your show - thanks for making me car smarter!
