A friend of mine, who sells aftermarket parts to independent garages, recommended me to Gene about ten years ago. He has become a friend as well as my mechanic with whom I have trusted all of my family's vehicles. He has a gift for getting to the root of a knotty problem and if anything, he undercharges because he can diagnose and fix stuff faster than most anyone else. Gene really is "one of the good guys." He won't fix stuff that ain't broke, and if your problem is something specialized he won't hesitate to tell you who is best to fix it if he doesn't feel that it would be him. I remember at least two occasions where he sent me elsewhere with the specific information I needed to get a specialized repair done correctly, and told me to tell them that he sent me; not because he got any kickback or anything, but because he knew that I would be taken care of.

My uncle, who has used Gene for years, recommended him to me. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

I dropped my car off with Gene yesterday to do some needed repairs. He told my wife and I that he had a new customer come in recently who had heard of him through this web site. He was tickled. He remembered that he had heard our car radios tuned to NPR and wondered if we had recommended him. When we told him it wasn't us and he said "too bad, so much for that discount I was going to give you". Gene's one of the good guys.

My wife's 1998 Expedition was making one of those famous "funny noises". Gene found a hairline crack in a exhaust system support and replaced the support. End of problem! Plagiarizing the PGA ad, "These guys are good!"

It's obvious that Gene loves his work. I appreciate him keeping my old VW on the road a few more years!

I have taken my vehicles to Gene for almost 10 years now. Gene is amazing. He is what I would consider a good friend as well as "my mechanic". He is beyond fair. Sometimes I think he could use a tip jar. He misdiagnosed my car once in the 10 years and told me I owed him nothing (after he fixed the real problem). I paid him anyway!! He deserves it. I tell everyone I know to take their vehicles to Gene. p.s. He's also walked me through how to fix it myself. Who does THAT anymore? p.s.s. Take him some donuts when you go. I don't know why, it just sounds good.

I found Gene using NPR's database. I was attracted by the positive comments and anecdotes. My interactions with him confirm what everyone has said. It is rare these days to have a sense that you can trust someone, and that is what I like most about taking my vehicles to Gene.

I went to Gene's looking for an honest mechanic and was lucky enough to find one! I thought I needed new brake pads, but Gene was honest enough to tell me there is nothing wrong with my car at all!! The humming and vibration I felt on my brakes is the result of rotating the tires and different airflow through them. Wow, he sure saved me a ton of money!! There isn't alot of honest people left in the world, but this guy can be trusted to tell the truth! Thanks Gene!

I'm new to the area and found Gene's Automotive based off Car Talk's website strong excellent reviews, and that his shop is conveniently located near our subdivision. My first impression of his kindness and honesty was reassured throughout the entire transaction. I explained what I thought the issue was and asked for my whole pick-up to be looked over. Gene called me with several issues, and explained to me that not all of them needed to be addressed right away, it just depended on how much I wanted to put into the truck. He is so honest, as most other mechanics would recommend more fixes than necessary. I asked him to check over some work I had done about a year ago in Seattle, and come to find out, the work was never done, I was just charged. Gene is very knowledgeable in his profession, as well as overly fair, so I will continue to bring my business to his shop. Support your local economy where the businesses are honest and fair! I would also like to include that on a day out sick, he went as far as to have me called (as well as other customers, I'm sure) to keep me in the loop with the progress on my truck. Gene's Automotive gets the highest grade in my book. Thank you Gene!!
