John Courage is a great mechanic at Groovy. He's done a great job every time I have taken my vehicle to him. He's honest and does his best to keep your bill to a minimum.

I had a vandalized driver's side window; they called me with an estimate less than half an hour after I dropped the car off, gave me a ride home and a ride back when my car was ready, and I had the car within four hours, faster than they promised. The waiting room is also very nice, if you like waiting rooms... and they have an outdoor patio.

These guys are close to my office, so I know lots of folks who have taken a car there. The reviews are mixed, to put it kindly. I have taken my car there for an oil change when I was pressed for time, but probably wouldn't trust them with anything much more complex than that.

The staff is always been honest and always has the car ready when promised. Once the drivre's side mirror broke off my car and was hanging by the wires. The Groovy mechanic told me to just go buy J B Weld glue down the street at an auto parts store and fix it myself rather than pay for a whole new mirror and installation. That suggestion saved me a lot of money and it worked perfectly.

I appreciate that they did not "over diagnose" when I took my 10-year-old Ford Ranger in for air conditioner repair; lots of shops would just have replaced everything to cover their own, um, behinds, but these guys just fixed what needed to be fixed, which I guess means that they don't mind leaving their behinds uncovered; which kind of makes for a bad visual, if you know these guys...

I took my car to Groovy as two friends recommended them. I needed repair work on the brakes; the peddle was extremely soft. They told me that I needed to replace several components for a total of $435. I authorized the work. The next day when I picked up the car, I found that the brake pedal felt exactly the same - unsafe!! I took it back and they looked again and said that the master cyclinder was bad. They offered the parts at cost and a 10% discount on labor, but it was still $230 more. I was NOT pleased with the whole experience. To top it off, I left and the brake pedal is STILL so soft that it's unsafe to drive. I gave up on them and am taking the car elsewhere.

My 2003 Ford Ranger was losing power - I thought, at bare minimum, it would take a tune-up, however the mechanics at Groovy found and replaced a "split vacuum line" (I didn't know vehicles still had vacuum lines) in record time and for much less than I thought it would take to remedy the problem. I drove from Austin to Houston the next weekend and, since the repair, the truck runs fine both in town and on the highway.

Had this shop work on my car's A/C and alternator. Both needed complete replacement. The alternator was installed OK but they failed to diagnose the reason the alt went out (later mechanic found this in moments). Had them work on my A/C also and it took 3 weeks of repeated returns of the car, plus an incredible amount of money for them to get it even working, then it stopped working again within 3 months. I decided not to bring my car back for them to mangle anymore. Not recommended!
