Zips is locally owned and they are wonderful. I,a female am usually the one who takes care of the cars (a hang over from being divorced for ten years)and I find that Zips...I always work with respectful and I know that they will not take us to the cleaners. They seem to geniunely care about the cars they repair. My son-in-law trusts them enough to take his classic there. If you live in Charleston County SC consider taking your car to Zips for any and all repair work.

We were in from out of town and had trouble with our car. Zips was able to look at our car the morning after we arrived. They ran the scanner to try and find our problem, but they could not pinpoint it. The didn't charge us for checking it out and offered to help us out if we had trouble again.

I had a great experience with this shop. I was in Charleston for the summer when my air conditioning blew out. They actually took the time to show me the part that was broken and explained how I could avoid similar issues in the future. I went back a few weeks later to have my brakes fixed, and the price was very reasonable. I even got a ride back to my place downtown after I dropped off my car. Highly recommended!

I took my Honda Pilot to these guys after reading great reviews on this website. They did not disappoint. I had them investigate 6 or 7 items, including one potentially serious (and expensive) issue that I had self-diagnosed after spending a fair amount of time googling the issue. They easily could have taken me to the cleaners given that 1) I know nothing about cars except what I learn by listening to Car Talk, and 2) I had already figured that I knew what the problem was, had estimated the cost, and was organizing a farewell party for the Benjamins. Also, as a middle-aged woman with two car seats in the back of my car, I find I'm an easy target for inflated if not downright dishonest "estimates" and "service recommendations," including a recent one from a dealer who claimed that among nearly nine hundred dollars of "necessary" repairs, I needed to replace a split and leaking CV boot (two independent mechanics subsequently verified there was no leak and all looked fine in CV bootville). Craig at Zip's discussed each item that was evaluated, how it was evaluated or tested, and confirmed certain issues either weren't problematic or could wait awhile before tackling for repair. He then detailed his recommendations including the reasons why. Also, the potentially "serious" issue (which could have led to an engine rebuild if not addressed) resulted from a disconnected hose. He popped it back in, saved me a fortune, and earned my trust and loyalty. I will definitely be heading there as a first stop for any future mechanical issues.
