Gerald's specialized in tires & brakes. They are the only place I would take a car to which needs tires or brake work. They have been in business for years, are always pleasant to work with, take the time to listen to you & will explain in detail whenever you have a question. If you want, you can even stand over them while they work. :) Their price is always lower than the dealer's, and they will tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. Here's an example. The dealer told me (after an unrelated repair) that the upper ball joints need replacing since there was some "play" in them. I told them, "Maybe on my next paycheck" and took the car right to Gerald's. What was really wrong? The rubber boots that hold the lubricant for the ball joints is torn. They said this happens a lot in their experience with my make/model car, and yes, one day the ball joints will need replacement, but that I could safely drive on them for now. Their price to do the job will be about $200 less than the dealer. Guess who will be replacing my ball joints when the time comes? Finally, as a woman who has had bad experiences with mecahnics treating me like an idiot, I have to say that Gerald's is particularly female-friendly. If you are a woman, you'll get the same considerate treatment as anyone else, except you might find a red rose on your car seat when you pick it up. Seriously!
