My Toyota pickup currently has about 254,000 miles on it, so I am expecting serious things to go on it at any time (by nature I am a pessimist). A couple of months ago I noticed my oil pressure was registering zero. Reving the engine did not raise the pressure. I stopped and checked the oil, which was at the correct level. I feared the worst, but as the engine was not making any clacking noises I drove it to Mark at Performance Automotive. Instead of installing a new oil pump at great expense, he correctly diagnosed that the oil pressure sending unit was faulty. Replacing that part cost me all of $19 (part and labor). I have been going to Mark for about 10 years now. Collectively my family has 4 cars, and it seems I am in his shop about once a month for something. But, he has never done a repair that was unwarranted, nor has he ever contemplated a significant repair without consulting me first on the matter. I have had some pretty bad experiences over the years with other mechanics, but now that I have found Mark, I always take my car problems to him.
