Their official hourly rates are fairly expensive, but their actual work is so efficient and so effective that they are reasonable. Their diagnosis is superb. Ron and DeeDee are very good, but the best is the third guy, maybe Dave, a funky and fantastic Volvo mechanic. They find and fix Volvo problems no one else I've gone to has found, including dealers. Their parts are generally factory and as competitively priced as one could expect. They are good enough to drive down from Boston and get a rental car for a day in order to have them repair your car! They do sell used Volvos at both good prices and in very good mechanical condition (after their diagnosis and repair). They aren't perfect, but this is a rave review.

I had my early 90's volvo repaired there several times for various problems. They always fixed it for a reasonable cost first try. From talking with them they seem to know what the problem area's are for my car. Straigh talking and straighfoward they don't seem interested in preforming non- necessary repairs.

Car Emporium replaced a blown automatic transmission with a used unit they had in the shop 3 or 4 years ago. Never any problems.(This was on a 1991 Volvo 745se). They forgot to put the splash pan back on, which they quickly corrected. In June 2010 with 100,000k on our 2001 Volvo S60, we brought it over to Warwick(not convenient to Newport)for timing belt replacement. We wanted all related parts replaced as well: water pump, serpentine, idler, pulleys, etc. Work was done on time and on estimate. Oil & filter changed, as well, for $1200. Only complaint, they left a stain on the floor mat which I cleaned w/Resolve. We will use them again as we are Volvo nuts.
