I've had my Ford Ranger for eight years. It's a good truck, but with 100k miles on what was the cheapest truck available, things are starting to wear out. Here's some stories: My truck was making a weird noise that was exactly like an unbalanced tire. Two different (nameless) auto places told me it was the tires. I bought, balanced, and swapped tires for weeks. When I gave up and called my dealer, he identified the problem on the phone (u-joint) and it was fixed the morning I brought it in. Another time it was running a little ragged. I gave them carte blanche to fix it, and they said they'd check (among other things) the wires. When I picked it up, they said the wires were fine. Six months later the wires finally did give out. They don't even take advantage of me when I let them! Moreover, several times I've dropped the truck off in the morning and it's been fixed BEFORE I GOT HOME! They tell me when I should fix things, and they tell me when I shouldn't bother. Being a dealer, the prices are occasionally higher than they'd be elsewhere (I got my windshield replaced there once. $350. ouch.) but the truck ALWAYS gets fixed on time and correctly. And they've let me take their loaner car to work in Boston. They're the best!
