RAY: My son Andrew was perusing a book a few weeks ago that tells you if you're suitable to become a Mensa member. And we got this puzzler out of that. So, I'm going to give you a series of numbers.
TOM: Yeah, should I write them down?
RAY: Write them down. Get a pencil. Two, nine, seven, nine, 12. That series of numbers represents the number seven. Just put somewhere “equals seven.” Now I'm going to give you another group of numbers.
TOM: Yeah.
RAY: Three, five, zero. That group of numbers equals two. So the question is, how would you write the number 10?

Answer:
TOM: OK, I got it: 3, 9, 12.
RAY: Exactly! All we’re doing is substituting each of the numbers--2, 9, 7, 9, 12--for the letters of the word seven.
TOM: So 2 equals “s,” 9 equals “e,” 7 equals “v,” and so forth.
RAY: Right, and we also know 3, 5 and 0. So 3 is “t,” 9 is “e,” and 12 is “n,” which spells ten. Who's our winner this week?
TOM: The winner is Christina Renzelman from Harvest, Alabama. Congratulations!
