I'm Asking You Now!

Mar 17, 2008

RAY: This was sent in by Brendan Pimper and I monkeyed around with it a little. Here it is: 'I walked into a co-worker's office the other day and just as I entered she turned to me and said, 'I'll be with you in a minute. I'm just calling my husband. It's his turn to do the grocery shopping and I'm just calling to remind him.'

'Within a few seconds he must have answered the phone because I heard her say, 'Hi Tim, it's me.' Then she asked him a perfectly normal question which I'm sure he answered perfectly normally. But if she'd asked that same question twenty years ago he might have thought she was crazy. Now many of us have probably been asked that same question and have answered that same question within the past few days perhaps.'

What was the question?
RAY: The question she asked her husband was "Where are you?" because she was calling him on his cell phone! And you wouldn't have done that 20 or 30 years ago because you didn't have a cell phone back then.

TOM: Who are you kidding? You don't have a cell phone now!

RAY: So who's our winner?

TOM: The winner this week is Jimmy Werkman, from Glasgow, West Virginia. And for having his answer selected at random from the plethora of correct answers that we got, Jimmy is going to get a 26-dollar gift certificate to the Shameless Commerce Division at cartalk.com, with which he can purchase our Car Talk Plaza baseball cap. It's red and black with baseball script lettering and it's perfect for those bad hair days.

RAY: It's even better for those no hair days. Congratulations Jimmy!
