My 1986 Subaru GL Wagon started burning oil on restarting when hot. I also had an oil leak (1 qt every 50 miles). The local Subaru dealer told me I need new head gaskets to fix the oil leak. Mark, at The Garage, found that all I needed was a new PCV valve (a $50 fix). The burning oil stopped and there is now only a minor oil leak from the head gaskets.
