5 Star Transmission Specialist!! I am recommending Dwayne Hiers for three main reasons. He is competent, good to work with, and honest. My wife has a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with 120,000 miles that was stalling out at low speeds, and the mechanic took it to another transmission specialist. They stated that it needed a rebuild. ($1500 out the window). I called Dwayne and told him about the problem, and he thought it was something simpler. I took it to him, and he thoroughly tested it and found that it needed a new filter and more fluid, with other more routine maintenance. He reduced the bill down to $180. It rides like a dream. First, he is competent. He explained everything to me and showed that he has a good understanding on transmissions. His testing was complete and very good. He wanted to make sure of all the possibilities. He was able to explain things to me, and even if I did not understand it, I kept asking questions until I did. With what I initially described on the phone, he was hesitant to have me spend $1,500 if not required. He wanted a complete testing to make sure he was making the correct repair. Second, he is great to work with. When I would call him even in the middle of a project, he was good enough to talk to me. He is friendly and while friendly people can unfortunately rip you off, it is a perk to have courtesy and patience. Third, he is honest. The man turned down $1,500 for good business to do the right thing. He made only $180 off of me, but it did the job. He was honorable to take the time and see if it was a transmission problem and to see if a cheaper job would do it. It is unfortunate that men like him are becoming few and far between. Point being: If Dwayne Hiers says I need something, even if it is expensive, I know that I need it. He will do it right the first time.

I call Dwayne Hiers a transmission god. He is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. Fixed my Jeep in no time and inexpensively (compared to the other guys). When I brought my Mercedes in, he tried to diagnose, but Mercedes has specialized computer software that he and most shops could not read, so he sent me there. But in doing all this he diagnosed the likely condition, knew where Mercedes was vulnerable, and diagnosed that a lot was ok with the transmission mechanically (likely a computer or electrical problem). Then, after doing all this work and ahead of schedule, he did not want to charge me. If you have a transmission problem and are anywhere near Pittsburgh, you are crazy to go anywhere else. This guy is the real deal.
