Mina Motors is located at the southern edge of Philadelphia's downtown business district. I have lived near Mina Motors for 7 years, and they have worked on three of my cars in that time (a Buick, an Olds, and a VW). I have had many used cars, and I have (what I consider to be) a lot of experience with auto repair shops. Mina is the most prefessional independent mechanic's shop I've ever used. Mina is a family-owned and operated business, and the shop appears clean and organized. Frank Mina is consistently available to talk at the counter about repairs or questions. They have never underestimated a repair cost, or failed to deliver a repaired car on-time. When I have been unable to pick the car up when finished, they lock the car in secure parking overnight (n/c, of course). Frank has - on more than one occasion - recommended a less costly repair than the one I had imagined or discussed. They also save replaced parts and show them to the customer when reviewing the invoice. Without exaggerating, I can say that I trust them more than any other mechanic's shop I've encountered.

Once I brought my 91 Taurus Wagon in and told him to change the shocks. He looked at the car and asked me how I tested the shocks. I showed him by pushing hard on the front. He told me that I was pushing too hard, and my shocks were fine. Another time I brought the car in to have the steering fixed after a side-swipe accident. Without my asking he photographed the damage and saved the parts. When my insurance company balked, saying the damage was not related to the accident, I was able to tell them my mechanic had proof and was willing to testify. I should also note that the garage has about 8 work stations, but the place is incredibly clean

We were satisfied the first time we went to Mina - I think it was just an inspection. The second time we were told the car was ready (another inspection) but when we arrived they hadn't done the emissions check & had to take the car off premises to do it. We were late for an appointment because of this. Third time they were supposed to fix who remembers what and again they said the car was ready but it turned out the part hadn't arrived by the time my husband went to get the car - moreover, he had specifically asked them not to tackle a different problem that day because he needed to get to an appointment out of town. They went ahead and worked on the second problem and he was late for his appointment. Wouldn't go back.
