Joe Boyle is smart, honest and inexpensive. If you drop the car off in the morning, he can usually tell you the problem before lunch. He usually charges nothing for diagnosis. If he can't fix it, he sends you to someone who can (such as an air conditioning problem, as happened in my case- the people he sent me to were excellent). And if you have an emergency, he will squeeze you in. The hardest part is actually paying him! You must pursue him, with determination. The other mechanics in his shop are excellent too. You can tell it's a good place - there's an esprit de corps. What can I say - I left Havertown, moved to Charlotte, NC, and I miss him!

More than once has brought the car back from the dead at a prce lower than expected and lower than I would have paid. Does all that is needed and does it well but doesn't do extra work even to the point of recommending not getting something fixed yet because it doesn't need it. Great guy and great shop. has another shop down the street that he recommends for heavy work. the other shop rebuilt an engine and has done transmission work and both went well.

Joe and his mechanics aree always respectful, helpful, competent, and friendly. They know what they are doing and are up front about what shouldn't be done (just yet). They care. They also have driven me home, allowed for delayed payments, and trust us. Got a problem now? Come right in and they'll do what they can.

I first took my Eclipse to Boyles for my annual inspection. I had a really good feeling about them,, so I brought my car back to get new brake pads put in. They were honest about which tires needed them (they didn't take advantage of me). The owner even went out of his way to pick me up in his car from the Radnor train station. Very nice guys, honest, work is completed as promised, and they are upfront with their prices (no surprises).

We used Boyle's for over 5 years and felt so fortunate to have found them (through the Mechanic Files!) They helped us out a number of times when my car battery died on our older Subaru, but also did repairs on our Prius with no problem. Prices were always very fair, and the staff is polite and extremely confident. The office manager, Robin, always found a way to squeeze us in if we needed help urgently or if I needed the car in time to pick the kids up from school. We just moved to MD and we are searching for some place like this. Joe knows what he's doing, the prices are fair, can't say enough good things about them.

Joe and his crew have been flexible (squeezing me into their schedule in a pinch) and honest about the need to replace (or not replace) various parts. I'll keep coming back to Boyle's to keep my car running.
