Please be aware this is a first time experience with Gateway Auto. They work on all makes, Import and Domestic. Finding someone who works on Mitsi's other than the dealer is difficult in Oregon. The good thing is John used to be the service manager of a Mitsi dealer that was located here previously. They went out of bus. John was familar with the possible problem and has a competent knowledge of the repair. Here is the good news...The problem was the computer. Gateway Auto fixed the problem (actually had a board repaired) and guaranteed it for just over $300. The dealer wanted twice that and it would take a week to 10 days. Gateway Auto took 3 days. So far, so good. I am very pleased and at no time did they attempt to sell other repairs to us. You are welcome to contact me at my email address... Cheers Dan

John (the owner) and Chris, his "front" (counter)-man have both been very easy to deal with and talk to. they've helpfully answered any questions I've had - even when I carried a half-shaft (axle assembly)in to ask them how to take it apart! I use them primarily to help take care of my old '91 Mits Galant-VR4, but I've also brought them an '83 Dodge Van, and an '88 Chrysler. Always efficient work accomplished on time. Although I can't afford to take them all of my problems (I'm a limited-income 50 yr-old "back yard mechanic"), their rates are in-line with any other reputable shop, and they give me a confident feeling whenever I deal with them. Take 'em your problems... they'll fix 'em! Mits = computer replaced, timing belt/all drive belts/valve seals replaced, + something else-can't remember... Chrysler = diagnosed & replaced oxygen sensor,, then coached me through getting it to pass emmisions tests (It took quite a while for the cat. converter to clear up) Dodge Van = diagnosed & fixed mixed up plug wires (my own STUPID mistake!!!)

John talked me through a carburetor cleanup of an old 1 bbl carb. Tons of knowledge and likes to help out. He also diagnosed a problem in a mobility scooter for me.

I took my '02 Tacoma to Gateway for a pre-purchase evaluation and was pleased and surprised to have them do research on my particular vehicle! Their work was thorough yet prompt, and they even ferried me from the nearby MAX station when it was done. Thanks Pete and John!

i have a 2004 chevy cavalier. the backup lights went out. this was the first repair the car has needed, so i looked up a mechanic on this web site. this shop was well reviewed. they were quick, competent, friendly and fairly priced. (replaced the back-up switch) (about $35 part and $35 labor) i would highly recommend this shop.

Their shop is beautiful, they'll give you a ride, they know their stuff. This shop, owned by John, is the only place I've always felt good taking my car to. They've never done anything even questionably shady and have worked on many of my cars and now my son's cars too. John treats men and women in the same way- with truth and honesty. They're equipped to handle most any situation with both tools and knowledge. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. (and always have!)
