John has never warmed up to the 9000, but if you want to keep your car forever, that is, any pre-94 900, 99, or any older SAAB back to the beginning of the iron age, John is your man. Forever is, of course, a figure of speech. I should say, at least until you or John finally give out. As for the 9000, I didn't say that he wouldn't work on them, he will, but with a certain amount of whining and complaining. He thinks they are nice cars, but doubts you can get more than say, fifty years out of them. So make the trip for everything from competent maintenance to a complete rebuild. He is out in the country (Jefferson), but worth the trip!

If you're sick of the high prices of Portland SAAB
mechanics, you owe it to yourself to get a hold of John-
especially for big repairs. John is part of 2 man show who
works out of his own personal garage and is one of the most
honest, straightforward mechanics I've ever met. But what
really makes him worth the drive are his prices. He's
apparently worked on SAABs for 20 or so years but he's not
in it for the money- he really enjoys the work- and he's
really good! I saved a bundle with John and I would
absolutely recommend him to any SAAB owner in the Portland or
Salem areas!
