Jack and Gretchen worked on my cars for all 9 years I lived in Corvallis. They were unfailing honest, cheerful, and helpful. They explain how things work, and why they don't. In the first year, a friend of mine with no knowledge of automobiles was traveling across the country in her first car and it broke down in Corvallis. I sent her to Jack and Gretchen, and not only did they diagnose the problem correctly, they applied a low-cost fix that would "get her home," while also explaining what the long- term solution should eventually be. She trusted them, and their advice was exactly right. They were in a position to easily take advantage of her, but chose to do the right thing. Ever since that experience, I have trusted them with all my car repairs. They once refused to do a transmission repair for me, sending me to a different mechanic across town who is "better than us at transmission, and will charge you less than we can, because he's set up to do it." One of the worst things about moving away from Corvallis this fall was moving away from my trusted mechanic!

The married couple who own this shop are a delightful example of a mom-and-pop shop operation. They even have their kids there on occasion. Jack is truly in love with working on cars and has not failed me yet in some 11 years of occasional mechanical work. Especially I appreciate his (and Gretchen's) comments on some cars I was thinking of buying, taken there for a pre-purchase evaluation. A tow truck driver summed it up about Jack when he said: "I been around Corvallis 20 years now and never heard anything bad about him." Glad I found this garage!!

I had a particularly hard to diagnose fuel pressure problem, and very little money. They were very understanding and generous with their time, explaining the details and arranging for my needs. The work was so efficient that the shop rate was reasonable.
