Please keep in mind this happened about 4 years ago. I took the car in to have some work done on it. When I came in to pick the the vehicle, the main mechanic told me I had a major head gasket leak. He opened the hood and showed me antifreeze that surrounded the gasket. He told me when he shut of the engine, the antifreeze squirted out forcefully and I should have it replaced immediately. He told the cost would be 895.00. When I bulked, he told me I would burn up the engine when the engine light came on as then it would be too late. Not only would I or my wife be stranded along a dangerous highway, I would be out an engine. I told him I'd take my chances. I went home, wiped off the antifreeze, checked the coolant reservoir (it was bone dry),topped off the coolant on the radiator and I don't recall what I had to add to that. Bottom line, after that, I never had a problem with the head gasket or major loss of coolant and I NEVER went back to the garage and will NOT recommend them to my friends...only to my enemies.
