I was staying near Toledo overnight on my way to Illinois.
They open 8 am and I arrived there 7:45. They were open and
a mechanic was there. The shop was clean and well equipped.
I told the manager that I wanted to get to Illinois to see
my grandsons. My engine light had gone on. He took me in
immediately, scanned the engine and told me it wasn't
reaching operating temp and suggested a thermestat. Also
the coolant was slimy. He suggested also that the cooling
system be flushed and new coolant be installed. I told him
to do it. It was finished at 9:30. He showed me the old
thermostat and another part. The engine light was no longer
on and I was getting more heat. (I had been at my own
mechanic 6 weeks earlier. The engine light was not on but I
thought I might need a thermostat because I was getting
much poorer gas mileage than I used to. I did not have it
checked because I couldn't give up the car for 2 hours and
planned to have it done in Jan after I returned from
Illinois. I did not suggest to the Toledo shop that I might
need a thermostat.)
