Bart is like your friendly neighborhood automechanic. He is very personable, professional, and outgoing if you are in a time of need (such as if you are nearby and car won't start- Bart [if he is has a moment] will drive over and see what might be wrong with your car, instead of having it towed to his shop only to find out nothing is wrong). Bart and his fellow mechanics work really hard and do good work- usually completing repair jobs within the day (if you drop off your car early in the morning). Bart looks out for his customers- if he sees something serious and expensive which needs to be fixed (before putting the car back on the road or if the combined repairs are not worth the value of the car) he will contact you before proceeding on the repair jobs. Bart's is open weekdays from 7 am to 5 pm, and from 8 am to noon every other Saturday (for simple maintenance repairs). The shop is about a 10-15 minute walk from the White Plains train station (so you can drop off your car before catching the train), and a 10 minute walk from the Public Library, the Westchester County Offices, the County & Federal court houses, and the Galleria. The shop is also really close to RJT and NY Recovery Towing, so you can have your car towed to Bart's- ASE certified mechanic (unlike these tower's guys). If you have a major repair or problem that you need taken care of, just make sure to CALL and SPEAK with Bart a day before or that morning to make sure that you can drop the car off- otherwise he may not be able to fit you in. Bart also buys good pre-owned cars and refurbishes others, so if you are looking for reasonably priced commuter cars, call Bart at (914) 946-1661. Bart's works on American and Foreign cars, and has the software for the technical stuff (unlike other shops who cannot handle tricky electricals).

I went to Bart after my friend found him. He needed an alternator done on his Chevy Tahoe and Bart had the parts and his price was very reasonable. Two days later, the alternator on my 98 Isuzu Rodeo went (after the Isuzu dealer assured me it was the battery, for which they severely hosed me!). Bart did a fine job, did it quickly, and actually called me to tell me that it was done. I was pleased and I also had him do my front brakes a couple of weeks later. I would definitely recommend Bart in the White Plains, NY area!
