As a young female driver I find it refreshing when a mechanic speaks to me on an equal level to honestly and thoroughly explain what is wrong with my car. The first time I walked into this shop I was so impressed with the way I was treated by the owner Jim. I was given a ride to work, and my car was fixed promptly and at a reasonable cost. One emergency and a routine fix later, and my car is running fine. I find the thought of car trouble less stressful, because I don't worry that I will get ripped off or be stranded.

I've been using this shop since 1977! First run by father,
now by son...always honest and competent. Jimmy always
tries to be helpful and solve the problems with the least
amount of expense...sometimes very creative, especially
with older cars where replacement parts are difficult or
costly to get. Over the years he's worked on my Mazda, my
Oldsmobile, and Subarus since 1999! He's both pleasant and
patient! He's great!

I manage the service and repair of a fleet of government
vehicles located in the Valhalla area. We perform as much
of our vehicle work in-house as possible but use various
private repair vendors - such as J.J. (Jimmy) Prestos - to
handle overflow work.
For the 4 years since I've worked with Jimmy, I have found
him to be one of our most effective vendors - both in cost
and service. In fact, there are times I have used his shop
practices as a model for how our own in-house shops can
better serve our "customers."
I've dealt with many private vendors over the years and the
truth is - when it comes to service shops - size is much
less important then the person running it. Jimmy's shop is
actually pretty ordinary in size (in fact my one constant
complaint to him is his service bays can't fit some of my
larger equipment) but Jimmy's one of the best.
I just told Jimmy about this website and am glad he is
already listed. In fact, the previous reviewer's comments
of Jimmy is spot-on...sounds just like him. Finally, I
think one of Jimmy's biggest boosters is actually the
retired fleet manager I replaced. Nowadays, he still
regularly brings his own vehicle to Jimmy's to service!

I was highly recommended to J&J Presto from a friend who
has been going to them for many years, and I have to say I
am externally satisfied with the service and the respect I
was given! I went to two other mechanics and had bad
experiences, not completed work and way over priced. I also
HIGHLY recommend J&J! Great work, prices and very caring
staff!
Thank you J&J Presto and Jim!!!!!!
