The brothers who run this shop are constantly learning how to work on new cars and trucks as the industry changes. They invest in computer diagnostic tools and software to help them keep up with changes and are honest enough with their customers and selves to send people to other garages when they can't fix a problem. They maintain a database on individual vehicles so they always know what has been done to a car and when. After working on a car they keep the parts they replaced to show you exactly why they needed to be replaced. And then they throw them away for you instead of putting them in a bag in your trunk.

My dad had been my mechanic for years and I was at a definite loss when he retired. I went to Parrotte's because a friend recommeded them. I wasn't expecting much but I needed a mechanic. Boy, was I surprised. They were very courteous and did not do any unnecessary repairs. They explain any problems they find, lay out options and, believe it or not, do not always suggest the most expensive of those options! I can't speak highly enough about their skill and honesty.

Excellent garage for general work. They prefer to work on common cars. If you have anything exotic they will probably ask you not to bring it in because they can't afford to be on the uphill end of the learning curve in a smaller town. My wife usually takes our cars in and they are always very professional and explain everything very completely to her without patronizing. They are a very small operation (2 bays, 2 brothers, no support staff), but they have a computer and keep good records about work done on our cars.

Down to one brother but he does a Great job at a reasonable price. Comunicates very well and takes pride in doing the job right. He takes the time to know your car and tells you if any imminent problems could occur. Would highly recommend.

Chris is the best! Honest, nice, talks to you so much I feel guilty about keeping him from his work. He'll try hard to locate parts and get the best price. My grown daughter still tries to get her car in with him when she is in town. He'll even go to a used car you are considering and look it over for you. I just wish he did NY inspections too!

Chris is now the sole owner. He's not just a mechanic, he's a teacher, a guide, and a diagnostician who knows when to go with his gut feeling or when to refer to the computer, it's data, and computer reviews of problems and solutions. If all mechanics were as honest and forthcoming, the car repair business would have few--if any--problems with bad reputations. Customers would always leave satisfied.

I have been going to Chris with my car for the past 8 years; since I started driving at 16. He has helped me and my dad immensely in choosing both of my used cars and has had a great relationship with my dad in the area for many years beyond mine. He is a super nice guy, always friendly and available. I've been moving across the country and driving a lot in the past few years, and I'm never worried as long as I know Chris has seen my car recently. I highly recommend Chris to everyone in Plattsburgh!

The place looks rundown, and he doesn't advertize, but don't let that fool you. Chris is the most honest mechanic I know. He is always willing to take the time to show me what the problem is/was, and will always confirm before going ahead with a job. Once, he even turned me away when I was looking for snow tires because his distributor of the tires could do it more cheaply than he could (I gave him the business anyway). I highly recommend Parrotte's to anyone.

Great guy. Took lots of time to explain exactly how he changed my oil. Use all the spec fluid and parts. Took time to check my tire pressures and other fluids. My only complaint is that I haven't been able to reach the shop by phone to make another appointment.
