They always take me the same day if I get in early. They find only LEGITIMATE extra problems. Once they reduced thealready reasonable price of a job because of the unlikely POSSIBILITY they MIGHThave partially caused the problem.

A good, family run business that is a real part of the neighborhood. You can
really talk to them, get to know them, work things out with them, and they're
always fair. I'm glad I found these guys, I always feel good bringing my car
there.

When I brought the car in to have the antifreeze changed,
they only emptied and refilled the radiator, without
flushing the whole system. Problem was they used a whole
gallon of new antifreeze, which was way, way too much!
I had to come back three times, to have some fluid drained
out and water poured in, till the mix was close to the
required 50-50 ratio.
I must say, though, that Tommy was very nice, about taking
the time to correct the problem.
The overwhelming majority of their business is selling
tires. I would not trust their mechanics to do anything
complicated. Simple things, like brakes, tires, alignment,
oil changes would be O.K.

Had to bring the car in pronto and I had my 6 month old
daughter in tow. They didn't give me special treatment but
they were honest with how long it would take, they finished
early, and they got me out of there for a reasonable price.
Another place down the street tried to sell me "you need
this, you need that" and quoted me 4 times the price a week
earlier. These guys were recommended and, as a new dad, I
was glad to go to a family run operation. My only
complaint: Yankee fans...Go Mets!

I tried three other shops after moving to New York before
finding TM&T. These guys are everything you want in a
mechanic and more. It's a family run shop, they'll talk to
you about what's wrong and what's not, they're honest to a
fault, very fast, and very reasonable. They're also very
flexible with customer needs and willing to do things like
install parts (for labor cost only) that you bought
yourself. Their labor costs are about half of what you pay
at some other shops. They also know what they're doing and
can also pinpoint-diagnose problems (even with older cars)
that other shops try to fix with the expensive "replace
stuff until it works again" method. Customer service is
great but slow; it's a very relaxed place and doesn't
operate at "Manhattan speed and efficiency" levels. Overall
a highly recommended shop.
