When rack and pinion, which was under warranty from another shop, went again, I was debating whether it would be cheaper to get repair done at the other shop or just go with Great Neck Auto and screw what I thought would be extra expense. Looked up old bill because I was charged labor on rack at old shop. Asked Frank (Great Neck Auto) what he would charge for repair. His price for whole job, with a new warranty, was lower than what I would have paid for labor only at shop where I had the original warranty. I knew before this that he was a better guy to deal with, but this just was the icing on the cake. Plus, he cleans the bathrooms himself, to the point where you could eat off the floor (And cleans at home, too. I told him that if his wife ever divorces him, he's MINE, but why would she!)

Frank is great! Even his father-in-law Al, is there helping
out... Al is a bit cranky, but funny. I moved out of Great
Neck a loooong time ago but still come back to have Frank
work on my car. He is calm and a straight talker. I have
tried going to other mechanics every once in a while,
because Frank is NOT open on Saturdays, but I always come
back.
I appreciate his honesty and he looks me in the eyes when
he tells me what is wrong with the car.

They are truthful in that they will freely tell you that
they "cater to the carriage trade." That means they will
pick up and deliver your car and charge about 1.5 to 2 times
what the guy down the street will charge.
They know what they are doing and the quality of the work is
not at issue. They will "exercise extreme caution where
your safety is concerned" particularly if it means replacing
all your tires about 6 months before you need to.
If you want to be part of the "carriage trade" and can, like
many in this area, afford to pay more than you should then
use these guys. If not, go elsewhere.
PS: the restrooms are clean, but not worth the extra dollars.
