I tried Atros for the first time based on the comments here. They definitely lived up to them. The repair was done quickly and competently. ONe top of that, I have GEICO Mechancial Breakdown Insurance, which pays for repairs but ONLY if the garage calls with a diagnosis and they authorize the repairs before they're done. Mike had never done a GEICO MBI repair before, but was willing to jump through the hoops without grumbling. Definitely going back.

I went to this shop after looking at several I saw on the Mechanics File. I split my time between Brooklyn NY and upstate, and rarely allow anyone in Brooklyn near my vehicle. I have been cheated and mistreated and overcharged etc.--even had parts stolen from my vehicle and multiple parking tickets racked up on it at other shops in Brooklyn. Once, a repair shop lost my keys down in the heating vent and called me up to ask for spares rather than extract them themselves! Mike, the head honcho at Atros, was polite, attentive to the problem described, and charged me $20 less than his estimate. I couldn't believe my luck at finding a guy like this within walking distance!

Atros Repair, headed by Jerry, is the best garage I have visited on the East Coast. They are honest, inexpensive and always quick with their repairs. My friend recommended them to me - he had destroyed his motor driving down the highway in the wrong gear. Atros had replaced it at a very affordable price. I drive an old car all over the east coast - a real beater - and I dread hearing from mechanics how much it will cost to keep me on the road. The estimates for repairs that I have received at Atros are always a shock. I usually think that I have misheard the quote, it is that low. They replaced my radiator one day for about half of what my previous radiator cost. Whenever I have car problems remotely near Brooklyn, I go to Atros. They are the best.

Jerry Atros is a very honest, careful guy. I moved to Brooklyn a year ago and have gone to his shop twice for repairs on my '91 deville. Each time he managed to do only what was necessary -- he doesn't just replace extra, related parts to make a buck the way some garages do. He knows you don't necessarily have a lot of money to spend and does a good job of explaining what needs to happen and how soon.

I prior reviews and I stopped in once to lookover the place prior to bringing in my car. Mike was very explanatory before fixing the car and was just as cordial after fixing it. I was empressed by his manner (usual mechanics are not as accomodating. I went to pick-up car after repairs were done with my wife , he took time to go over what was done to the car with both of us. I am happy to say it was a good experiance. His assurance was gratifying.

I have an OLD car. Because I am foolish enough to make plans to take this old car on a 10 hour road trip this August, I thought I should have a mechanic look at it and make sure it wouldn't disintegrate on the highway. Having moved to NYC about a year ago, I didn't have a mechanic that I knew in the area. I went to Jerry Atros Motors based on reading the Mechanic's Files reviews. The guys at Jerry Atros Motors were very helpful, and were able to get my car in the shop the same morning I called. They replaced my full exhaust system from front to back, a front axle, and the tie-rod ends. My car went in on a Monday morning, and I had it back by Wednesday afternoon. This seemed incredibly fast for having called them out of the blue, which means either I got lucky, or they have lots of parts in stock so you don't have to wait for the parts to be ordered and shipped. The bill came out to just a hair less than their estimate. They kept my car clean and the work seems great. They also warranty their workmanship for 3 months or 3,000 miles. I would go back again.

I found Atros in the Mechanics File several years ago after my favorite mechanic moved out of Brooklyn. After my first interaction with Mike, I had found a new favorite mechanic. He is thorough, kind, fair, helpful and timely. I recommend Atros to anyone looking for a positive mechanic experience. Having just moved to Berkeley, CA and in need of some car service, I am missing Mike and everyone at Atros enormously.

After reading positive comments about this shop on this website and, I tried it for a quick oil change. Mike was kind enough to let me know that my inspection had expired and took care of that as well. I later used the shop for another oil change and was told that I needed new tires and an alignment. Having put 33,000 miles on the set of tires and not having had an alignment done in the 3 years I owned my car, I had complete confidence that I was not being conned into doing unnecesary work. In fact, Jerry even suggested that I buy my new set of tires on line to save some money rather than trying to sell me a set of tires himself! In sum: a competent, honest mechanic that I recommend enthusiastically.

I have taken 99 VW Passat to this shop twice. The guys who helped me were efficient and professional. Most recently, I arrived on a snowy day in a flatbed tow truck with only 3 wheels on the car (a result of a hit and run while the car was parked on the street), and they quickly checked me in so I could get on my way. They called with an estimate the same day. The next day Jerry had to call me back to tell me their parts supplier had sent the wrong parts and the estimate was $170 more than he thought, and he wanted there to be no surprises. He was also concerned that the repair was delayed, which was nice. It was a disappointment but he handled it well and I know mistakes happen. When I researched the part online, I found Atros' price was fair. Good experiences on both visits - highly recommend.
