These guys were WONDERFUL. I am female , and really enjoy doing mild/moderate repair work on my own car. They diagnosed my prob as an oxygen sensor malfunction on my car, and then said: "since you like to do your own work we'll tell you what to do,its dead easy, 'cause we have a minimum 1 hour shop time charge. And this will take 5 min" They showed me how to plug in the sensor, and even told me to bring it back after I did it and they'd re-check it for me free of charge. These guys are awesome !!!

On a cross-country road trip, we started having trouble with our Honda Civic. In a situation where we could easily have been taken advantage of, Alamo did excellent work for a good price. They actually fixed the problem, and they did it quickly. They gave us a ride to a nearby museum while they worked on the car, and they were by far the most friendly, communicative mechanics I have ever encountered. If I lived in or near Alamagordo, I would take my car only to them.

My father and I have had several cars in with them. They do a better job than some dealers. They keep an accurate computer record of the service provided. They even know what parts have a high failure rate (example: Wiper motor circuit board on an Astro van).

I called other repair shops before I called them. Some others turned down the work. They were professional and courteous. The owner even drove me across town to my cousin's job so I could get a ride home. Very friendly. I am planning other engine repairs in the future and will take my car back to them.

I found this shop in the Car Talk Mechanics Files, because I don't know any locals who could recommend a trustworthy mechanic. The guys at Alamo Auto Center were helpful on the phone, and even more helpful in person. I spoke with three different guys, all of whom seemed knowledgeable, polite, and willing to explain what was going on. I didn't get full repairs, but they found me a low-cost fix to get me home to my regular mechanic. Good guys, great service, fantastic price!
