Somerset Tire Service (STS) is an independent tire and automotive repair company with multiple locations in NJ. I have been using their services for the past 30+ years (at several different locations). They have worked on my Ford, Toyota, and several Hondas (one of which I drove for 185,000 miles). They take the time to explain mechanical issues and allow me to inspect the problem parts/systems before, during and after repairs are made. I am most impressed by the honesty and integrity of the employees. For example, I brought my car in due to noise and vibrations seemingly coming from the front wheels. After driving my car and putting it up on the lift, I was told that the problem was due to a loose shield, improperly installed, after recent body work (by a shop my auto insurance co. sent me to). They recommended I return to the body shop to have this corrected. Although they could have easily fixed the problem, they didn't want to possibly compromise my new guarantee from the body shop. Not only was STS right about the cause of the problem, they also didn't charge me for the diagnosis. This is just one example. I have never had to worry that they will mislead me about the type or extent of repairs necessary. I think this might be due to the fact that STS is an employee-owned company. Finally, I am pleased to say that I see all customers, regardless of gender or ethnicity, treated with equal respect and professionalism.
