"Economy" has looked after our 95 Infiniti G-20 and '99
Nissan Pathfinder for a few years now; the relationship
started with repairs at my request. An "I need it now"
Saturday morning brake job, (which was done at a fair
price) was then followed with routine maintenance, then an
exhaust (also a clear need, and again done well and at a
fair price), and it moved to routine maintenance on both
cars. On balance a very satisfactory experience to date.
Examples: (Other that "It's OK, see you later....")
"You will need to look at the brakes on this one in about
6 months... (no surprise to me, based on vehicle miles)
"You should consider changing the boot on the steering
coupler when you have time - it's ruptured and should be
changed" - with no pressure to do something "today" (boot
status verified while care was on the lift).
So, on balance, I'd much rather have these guys do routine
things and look after my cars than using the approach of
having "drop-in" places do the oil changes, and try to
sell me an air filter, and then having the rest of the
serious item checks done by me. My experience is that
Economy suggest things as needed and don't push things
that aren't neceasary.
The reason I'm writing at all is because I (today, Oct 9,
2004) referred a friend of my daughters's to them, as her
car wouldn't start (despite best efforts) in our
driveway. As they neeeded a place for repairs - Economy
became the designated 'drop off point'. If it doesn't
work out, well, I'll be blamed - and I'm sure I won't
heard the last of this. If it works out - and that's my
bet - great. You can be sure that I will update this entry.
