I found Mark's in the Mechanics Files when I moved nearby, and I love them. They have a pick up and drop off service for places nearby - where I used to work and still live. Once I asked them to change the radiator fluid along with an oil change, but they didn't do it. I asked why - and Mark said "It didn't need it". I checked the maintenance book for my car, and indeed, they don't do that any more. So I know that they are honest! if they found that I needed X, I would believe that I needed it. They are nice. They aren't conveniently located except for the drop off service (they are very close to Princeton Junction train station) so that is fine. The prices I paid were always reasonable. I'm just sorry that I am no longer near them.

Their hours are amazing...and the shuttle is great. We are also very pleased with their explanations of issues and feel the price is more than fair.

We had a problem with our car overheating several times. We were told over and over again that it was a leaky head gasket - typical for our Subaru make/year. That fix would have cost us $2,000+. We took it into Mark, and he did a thorough check through and found a bad thermostat - the cause of all our problems. It was around $300 to fix instead. Thank you Mark! We truly appreciated the honesty and speedy service. We just had our brakes and rotors replaced yesterday at Mark's, and it was finished by yesterday afternoon.

I wish I hadn't moved away. Mark's is great. He has a shuttle driver to take you nearby to work or home, but not an hour away I am sure. I am going to be in the area and hope that I can get an oil change while I am nearby.

I have work done on my car on couple of different occasions at Mark's Auto. I believe the quality of their work is good. But I do have the following observations based on which I would not give a very high rating to them: 1. Hourly labor charge is similar to what a dealer would typically charge. Moreover I feel every time I have gone there, they have charged me for more number of hours to get the work done than it should normally be. When one fix requires two or three components to be replaced, they will charge one hour for each! 2. The owner Mark always seems to be in a rush in explaining the problem and discussing about it. I never found him trying to find an easier/less expensive fix for an issue. Most of the time, you cannot wait for the car and discuss the problems with the tech or Mark. He will always ask you to leave the car and then later discuss the issues over phone, which makes it harder for you to negotiate. The drop-off and pickup service is great and I as I mentioned before I have no complaints with the quality of their work. I just feel that being a local mechanic and not a dealer shop, they should have a lower rate, work with customers and give honest estimates.
