Nimrod took over the shop from his dad, who still hangs around the place. Nimrod Jr. does almost all the work himself-- lets Sr. feel useful doing benign things. Nimrod's fine on facts and fixing our "road warriors": '87 Nissan Sentra (>140,000 miles) and '89 Honda Accord LXi (>130,000 miles). He's been taking care of our cars for 6+ years with an excellent track record for 1st-time-fixed and savvy/cheap/honest repairs. He gives us discounts for our frequent oil changes. He charged only ~$10 P&L to change the transmission fluid; we laughed at the Sear's AutoCenter offer to do the same for "only" $50. Nimrod keeps working at a clip with the aid of a remote phone headset-- "Hello, Netherwood"-- and computer billing records. He's also a good guy and a neighborhood anchor. People drop by to shoot the breeze and crack jokes (okay, and pay bills too). Cory's Body Shop across the street also does reputable work. Both are a block from the Netherwood/Plainfield NJTransit train station, as well as on several bus routes.

We started bringing our Toyota Corolla and Volvo here a
couple of years ago so that we could support a local
business (with a long history in the area) rather than a
chain, and we have not been disappointed. It's really great
to have a place like this in our neighborhood, and it's a
credit to Plainfield. Nimrod goes out of his way to find the
best and cheapest way to fix the problem effectively.
Sometimes that means waiting a little longer while he tracks
down the best price for a part, but it's well worth it to us
and we're always highly satisfied with the results. He
treats us honestly and fairly. The shop is within walking
distance of our house, so that's usually how we get there
and back - but it's also across the street from the
Netherwood train station, which makes it very easy to pick
up/drop off before or after a commute to the city. HIGHLY
recommended!

Nimrod is great. He will call around to find the cheapest parts available before
quoting you a price. When other shops told me I needed to completely replace a
part on my Honda, he took the time to determine exactly where the specific
problem was, then fixed it that day in his shop rather than just taking the easy
(and more lucrative for him) way out. It saved me over a thousand dollars. He is
an incredibly nice man; very friendly and outgoing and won't try to push any
work on you that you didn't ask for. I recommend him to everyone I know.
