Fast, courteous and reasonably priced. Been around for a while, Marty is a unique experience: crazy but in an endearing sort of way. One of the best Audi/VW (including air-cooled) mechanics on the East Coast. He sometimes gets jobs from from the service managers of local VW dealerships (on the QT, of course). Nothing stumps him (except (almost) the electrical wiring problem I presented him a few years ago) Factory trains in Germany once a year.

As a female it can sometimes be a task to find a decent, honest mechanic. In an all the years I've known Marty, he's always been honest with me. Not knowing much about mechanics, he's always takin the time to explain the repairs involved. He even allows you to opt for used parts, which can save you good money. Knowing someone like Marty makes you want to keep buying Volkswagons. I recomend to any and all females.

Marty's got a real passion for VW's and Audis. He knows what he's talking about and doesn't make you replace parts unnecessarily. I went to him after being disappointed by a VW dealer who wanted me to replace the throttle body for $700. I actually allowed them to replace it, but the car would still drive very "jerkily" like it did before. Then, they said I had to buy yet another part. So I told them to take out their new throttle body and give me back mine! I then found Marty's on this site and took the car to him. He replaced the oxygen flow sensor and the car's been running just fine! The second time I took the car to Marty's, he told me that I'd need to replace the suspensions and the tie-rods in the future, but didn't try to alarm me into changing them right away. Marty's is definitely a shop I trust with my car and recommend him very highly to all VW and Audi owners.

Marty is, by far, the best and most knowledgeable mechanic for my audi coupe quattro, which just broke 400,000 miles. Marty helps me to understand what has happened to my car and how to prevent it from happening again. He also is very reasonably priced and has guarenteed every bit of work on my car. Sometimes I wait as my car is being serviced and I have come to understand that he is a bit crazy but in a good way.

I had a tricky cruise control issue that an Audi dealer also had difficulty with. Marty and Steve figured out the problem, had used parts on hand (which I had requested), and fixed my car for a LOT less than the dealer would have cost.

Owning 2 Audi's and One VW and being sick and tired of the local 'dealership experience' I gave Marty's a try for a relatively minor VW problem. The referrals on the Car talk site were right on the money. Marty is an absolute VW/Audi fanatic. He greeted me in VW/Audi Technician overalls, and after ten minutes chatting I realize this man knows more about these cars than anyone I've met. Knowledgeable and very free with tips and information. The shop complete with an air-cooled VW Bug cut in half hanging outside defies words. There are at least a dozen VW' and Audi's being stripped for used parts on the lot. Used parts acquired over his 26 years in biz are crammed into every inch of the shop. Once you get past the look of it you appreciate this is a guy that knows and loves German cars. Heartily recommended for anyone seeking an alternative to the overpriced and underperforming cappucino serving dealerships in Bergen County NJ.

As long as Marty is around to fix my VW, I will keep the car. The moment he would retire or move away, I will sell the New Beetle and will never buy a VW again! A friend recommended Marty to me years ago, when I was the owner of a Passat. I spent thousands of dollars on that car at the various dealers, and yet the problems never seemed to get fixed. The moment Marty put his hand on that Passat, everything was fine until I sold it, and next owner drove it for several more years. After the Passat, I fell in love with the New Beetles, bought one in 2000, without realizing how many problems I will have with this car. Marty and his expert crew is keeping my sanity, otherwise I would have driven this Beetle into the Hudson River. Just one anectode about his honesty: I complained to him about an annoying and loud sqeaky noise coming from the back breaks. So embarassing driving around like that... wanted to get it fixed. Marty said: don't worry, nothing is wrong - if it bothers you, raise the level of your radio. And so I did. Eventually, the noise was gone, and he saved me plenty of money then, and more many times over. God Bless Marty, the best VW guy. Highly recommended.

As a local VW Ownwr I find Marty as a Doctor in the ER at any Hospital. He is ready willing and able to solve an incipient problem with your auto. His Facility does not employ a Diagnostician ready to sell you new parts instrad of reliable service as some franchised dealers might. Paul
