I've done over two thirds the mechanical repairs on vehicles in my households over the last 35 years. Steve's shop is the first I've dealt with outside of family and friends where I trust him to do the right thing by me and the vehicle.

Over my 10 years in 3 states and 5 towns, I have dealt with many mechanics/garages (I tend to drive old, troublesome vehicles). Steve's (Steve Moll) is the ONLY shop that I have ever found that I can consistently trust. They are honest, up front, and do very good work. Very fast too... Almost every time that I have ever called them, I have been able to get my car in when I wanted to. That goes for very short notice too. About half the time, I simply leave the car at his shop and leave the key in the key drop without calling ahead. They will phone me back which is my opportunity to tell them what I want done and when I would like to have the car back. Usually they get it done by the end of the day. Raleigh Autocare is also very good for telling you exactly what they will do before they get started and how much it will cost. I dont think that I have ever been surprised by the charges. They are good enough that, for me, "taking my car to the garage" is now synonymous to "taking my car to Steve." I dont go anywhere else (except warrantee work, of course). They have gotten all my business for 4 cars over about 2.5 years (which is when I discovered them). I highly recommend Raleigh Autocare. If you go, be sure to ask to speak with "Raleigh" in customer service. (Raleigh is Steve's very extroverted golden retriever that always hangs around the shop)

When I first started using them they did excellent work. Prices were competitive with other garages. They fixed an old truck I had the first time I brought it to them. Another mechanic and the dealer could not fix it. However; I've had a lot of problems with them the last 1 and 1/2 years. Worked on my son's car and shortly afterwards it required $800 in repairs. Unfortunately, he was 270 miles away so I could not take it back to Raleigh Auto Care. The mechanic that fixed it said it looked like the power steering hose had been struck which caused it and the power steering to fail. They worked on my other son's cooling system to repair a leak. He drove it home and coolant overflowed everywhere because they over tightened a hose and the plastic coupling broke. They were willing to tow it and fix it but it was Friday and Monday was the earliest they could fix it. They also replaced some belts on my Intrepid and did a good job but the next time I checked the oil I noticed the left headlight mount was broken like someone had leaned on it. I just had them replace two automatic tranmission hoses and replace the transmission fuild and filter. A week later, I need a new transmission. I plan to find another mechanic.

Great shop. Went there as a result of previous comments on cartalk.com, they were prompt in repairing the problem and the price was wicked reasonable.

I went to this shop because of the reviews here, and because it was close to home. I've had one repair job done, replacing the front transaxles. It appears to have been done satisfactorily, but I won't know for sure for at least a few thousand miles. The positive features: the shop seems to be professional, there is good attention to customers, it has the most comfortable customer waiting area I've seen(no blaring tv), and I got a loaner in the bargain. However, it was expensive. I already had an estimate from another shop for the exact same work for $200 less. I can't give a good reason why I chose Raleigh Autocare anyway, other than that it seemed more professional, was closer to home, and I got the loaner.
