The guys at A&B have easily saved us twice as much money as we have paid them for repairs on all of our vehicles. They have even referred us to other excellent professionals when our repair issues were beyond the scope of their work. With their help, we have extended the lives of a couple of cars without breaking the bank. They are highly recommended in my book!

(These folks also have an allied shop in Statesville, NC) My experience with them was in Cornelius, about 14 miles north of Charlotte on the Statesville Hwy.... I am writing both because I did have positive experiences with them, and because I've had just the opposite since then, with a couple of shops elsewhere. anyway.... my experiences- A&B Tire and Automotive performed service on my '91 GMC S-15 4x4 (similar to a Blazer model) on several occasions. They were consistantly more conservative than I was in deciding how much general maintenance work to perform at a given time, in deciding what parts might merit replacement in consideration of the 130,000 + miles on the vehicle. In addition to this, on one occasion there was a minor problem which was an accident on their part. They made me aware of it, apologized, and corrected the problem at their (considerable) expense. Without going into detail, it was a situation which a less honest management could have easily hidden and let me pay for. These people are knowlegeable, and trust-worthy. Their facility is neat and clean with a pleasant waiting area, and a well-organized shop. If I were still within a hundred miles of them, I wouldn't go anywhere else. --------------------------------------------------------- now... if you had a tatler's forum, I could tell you a more recent story about a S.O.B. here you don't want to trust with your car.

I chose them because of the recommendations on this site. When I brought the car in for an axle repair they said it would be between $300 and $500 depending on what they found when they took the wheel apart. At that time I also gave them a list of things I thought might need to be done. They called three hours later. The bill was for $365 for a new right axle assembly. "Brakes don't need work and plugs and wires are just fine. Are you sure you want to replace fuel filter? It's in a hard to get to spot. Filter is $25.00, labor will be $80.00." This is a 94 Mazda 626 with 227K. These guys could have really taken me for a ride. What a pleasant surprise to find people so honest. From the looks of it they have all the work they can handle. I'm not surprised.

I'm the fellow who wrote the previous review of this shop. 94 Mazda 626 now has nearly quarter million miles on it. Car was squealing badly whenever air was on or alternator was engaged. Figured it was the belt tensioner. This shop estimated parts and labor to be about $150. Took it in this morning. Got a call an hour later. Belt tensioner is fine. Bearings are fine. Just needed an adjustment. Come get your vehicle. Total cost $15.00 I personally would travel a hundred miles to use them again. Fortunately they are in the neighborhood. I can't say enough nice things about them

I picked this shop because of the comments listed here, Overall price was right on target, a bit high on one part that I looked up online, but decent. Just had the work done will post again for how it all works out.

I started using A&B when my regular mechanic closed his shop (family crisis). That was about nine years ago. They have always been fair and always done a good job. As a mechanic's daughter, I have a clue about cars, just not enough know-how to do it myself. The mechanics at A&B don't treat me like a 'dumb woman', but do explain things to me if I don't understand. I don't ever recall them 'messing up' my vehicle, and I've taken about seven cars to their shop in the last decade, including my husband's cars/trucks and my son's car. One time I had a problem with my car stalling while stopped at a red light. When I brought it in, they diagnosed it on the spot, replaced a small vacuum hose, and did not charge me a penny! Jason, Rusty, Wolf and the rest are great, and I'd recommend them highly, and have. They have a motto: "You can't be the best and the cheapest", and it's true about A&B. They might not be the cheapest, but you do get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a little more and have assurance that the job was being done 'right', then pay less and be taken. I've been in that situation, and I don't care to repeat it! Thumbs up, way up, for A&B.
