Doug started out as a shade-tree mechanic fixing cars for people in his church congregation and became so popular for his good work that he decided to quit his regular job and open up a full-time shop. He is a strong Christian and I have known him for years and find that I get better treatment and price from him than I ever got from the 4 previous mechanics I have gone thru.

Doug's Automotive was recommended to me by my son-in-law whose vehicle was repaired at Doug's recently. Doug's Automotive is now owned by Joe G. who was a long time employee at Doug's. My son-in-law had learned of Joe's shop(Doug's Automotive Repair) via word of mouth where he had heard that competent, reasonably priced work is performed on a wide range of automobile repair issues. Doug's is located conveniently off the beaten path in a well kept industrial park near near several upscale residential neighborhoods in Cary, NC. Before I used Doug's Automotive, I also employed this site to search for other feedback which I found to be favorable. Recently, my 99 Toyota Camry lost a timing belt. I had the car towed to Joe's shop and left it with Joe, with instructions to replace/repair the timing belt and water pump. I also asked Joe to repair/replace anything else he felt required fixing, including belts, hoses, plugs, plug wires, etc. I also told him there was no rush. Within two days, he called and told me the car was ready. Without compromising his pricing schedule, let me just say the car was repaired correctly for what I believe to be a very fair, reasonable, competitive price. What is particularly noteworthy is that Joe had carte blanche to perform much more work than he did. He could have run the bill up much, much higher, but he didn't. Why? Because I believe he is honest. As Joe put it, he had been through the whole car, including the brakes, and indicated that the timing belt related issues were the only ones that needed to be addressed. I drove the car home and it ran like a top. I have been driving automobiles for over forty years and have owned many. Obviously, that fact alone has brought me in contact with countless mechanics. To find an honest mechanic who is competent and reasonably priced is indeed a rare event in this day and time. I found Joe to be a very pleasant, personable man who patiently listened to my description of the car's problem and gave me feedback in terms I could understand. When I put my car in the shop, I also had an opportunity to observe a female customer discussing a repair issue with Joe. I noted that he showed her the same patient and respectful demeanor he has shown me. Another noteworthy observation I made was the obvious pride he takes in his appearance and that of his business. The business premises, I observed, including the garage area, were as spotless and immaculately maintained as his well pressed, professional uniform.
