This shop had me- I had "easy target" written all over me. My son, a college student in Springfield, MO, had his little 93 Toyota Corolla start fogging the neighborhood for mosquitoes, run rough, start burning oil and lose power. I am located across the state in St. Louis, and was trying to help my son by long distance. I had him ask around, and several of the local residents said Ricks Automotive was one of the best places in town to take a car. With some fear he limped the poor little Corolla over to Ricks, and they took it right in. The mechanic did an extremely complete diagnosis and discovered that there was something missing - compression on the #4 cylinder. He called me and spent a long time on the phone explaining the problem they uncovered, and the possible paths to repair. As the repair work proceeded, they kept me posted by phone daily as to how it was going. Fortunately, the problem was only a burned exhaust valve, and there was no damage to the cylinder, piston, or cylinder head. They were able to send the head off to a local machine shop and have the cylinder head refurbished, and then re- installed it. They also suggested a couple of other repairs (such as the cam drive belt) that should be done as long as the engine was torn down. I am located about 200 miles away, and had to trust them completely - they could have told me we needed a new engine, and I would not have been able to verify it. I would have just had to bite the bullet and pay the bill. A business that has you totally at their mercy, and yet does the right thing and does not take advantage of the situation is worthy of recognition. They looked out for my son and I, and did professional work in a timely manner for a fair price. I would highly recommend Ricks Automotive.

My wife and I have taken all of our vehicles to Rick's for the past 10 years. Never a problem with their service. I even tried to replace some u-joints on my Jeep but ended up not having enough leverage to get a nut off. I drove it to Rick's (in "front" wheel drive) and had the parts in the seat. They put everything in that day and I was off and running. They've also done a pre-buy inspection on one of our vehicles. Rick's is the best experience I've ever had with a mechanic!!!
