This is the best garage I've found in St. Louis, and after owning a Volkswagon a few years back I've been to quite a few repair shops in the area! The guys at Wicke are honest and prompt. They make their repairs the same day, if at all possible, and always call with an estimate before they start the work. The let me know of other problems with my car, and give me suggestions on what to fix and what to ignore. The best part is that they are competent and fix things right the first time. We take both our cars to them, and every time, they get the repairs right the first time around. Wicke is not in the best neighborhood, but they lock all the vehicles inside at night. They don't work Saturdays because they don't need to (a mark of a competent garage here in St. Louis). You can't go wrong with Wicke.

Always do the work in a timely manner, and very professionally.

For the last year they've worked on a 1992 Maxima that my 16 year old son drives. They've always done a good job fixing things I've asked for and have actually discouraged me from fixing a leaking power steering pump with the advice that a little power steering fluid every six weeks is way cheaper than fixing the thing. The original transmission failed on the car at about 115,000 miles. When they discovered the replacement used transmission (from an auto recycler) wasn't up to their standards after they installed it, they replaced it a second time at their own expense before they even let me drive it. I can't say enough good things about these guys.

Wicke always lets you know what they are going to do and how much it will cost. If the repair work is unnecessary they will tell you that. I will have my car towed to Wicke even if I am a bit out of the free tow range allowed by AAA.

They are fair and competent. They also do not look down on people who want to keep an older vehicle running. I especially like the fact that they tell me when something is unnecessary.

Took my Camry there for some engine and body work. They did great with the body work, not so great with the engine work. Had to take it to the dealer to fix the "repairs" that were done.

My Civic was recently in an accident, and Wicke was very conveniently located in the West End (plus, the insurance company offered to pay for the repairs). After having my car for 6 weeks, the shop finally gave it back to me, and it looked better than before it was in the accident. However, there was some serious damage to the front axle and tie rods that the shop didn't fix at all (or even inform me about), and I will now have to get those things repaired as an out-of-pocket expense. I would recommend Wicke for any type of body work, but not for any actual mechincal repairs, which isn't their speciality anyway.
