I have gone to many mechanics over the years and these guys are some of the best. They usually can schedule a time within a couple of days of your call. After they have looked at your car (or van in my case) and call to give you the news, they usually have options on what you can do, explaining what is critical and what can wait. They are friendly and helpful and their prices don't seem too bad (or maybe I'm older and know what to expect). For me, they have always done it right the first time.

I recently moved away from my mechanic and am miserable without Doran-King. Here's their story - when I took my Jeep in for a transmission cooler, they suggested a cheaper place!; when I wasn't sure of my tire pressure, they filled them up for me and wrote down the pressure on a card for me to carry (no charge); when I needed my oil changed, they didn't suggest the thousands of other things the Jeep and Saturn needed; when my tire was slashed (yes slashed!), they sent me to the tire place open on weekends and made sure I had tightened the lug nuts enough. When I left Minnesota for good, they checked my U-Haul trailer hitch/hook-up to make sure the U-Haul people had set me up correctly (no charge). Sounds like a big brother doesn't it?

I'm new to town and had an emergency situation with my car. I called and they were going to come right over to look at my car, but I managed to get the car started. They didn't try to sell me anything, but I decided to get a new part anyway. They took the time to explain the problem and then he said that when I need new plates, he would put them on for free. I am recommending Dorn-King to my friends. I had a garage like this in Iowa and I'm so glad I found one close by here in St. Paul.

My Honda was having issues at the clutch. Not being car- savvy, my husband was calling around town to inquire quotes with limited vercabulary. The dealer was going to charge $100 for inspection alone per hour in addition to fixing and parts. In other words, if it took 3 hours to find the problem, it'd be $300 on top of parts and labor after fixing. Finally, we called Doran-King, an auto-shop in our neighborhood. They were able to give us a rough diagnosis over the phone, and after taking a look, they confirmed with us prior to doing work, and the information they gave was straight-forward. The best part here, was that the cost was less than $300.

They're trustworthy and extremely helpful--among the best I've dealt with.
