Although our repair bills have funded the college education of at least one of owner Todd's kids, we love 'em at Amigo. Friendly, honest, always willing to jump on the phone to answer a random question, want to be sure their work holds up. Only one complaint: after a recent pricey affair (water pump AND timing belt. . .yikes!) the car was returned with big 'ol muddy bootprints all over the front. Get out the vaccum, guys, would you?

Amigo is a great shop! It is small but family owned, which I try to support. I feel as though they have charged me very fairly for my repairs and in fact, for me, they have always come in below the estimate they stated for a repair. My car is older and they respect my reluctants to throw a lot of money into repairs, compared to buying a new car, especially repairs which may not be really necessary. Therefore, they have offered different repair options and explained these various repairs to me before doing the work, and the cost/benefit value of each repair versus no repair (some repairs are not cost effective on older cars). I have used Amigo for over five years and refer all of my friends to Amigo. Amigo is the best and most honest shop I have found in the past twelve years living in Minneapolis. I highly recommended them to anyone!

This is a great shop. Being a female and new to the city, I was hesitant about where I would take my car for it's first major repair (CV joint). After finding Amigo on this site, I decided to give them a shot. I thought I needed both sides repaired because there was a lot of clicking going on when I turned right or left. I ended up only needing the right side done and they went over the costs of replacing it and also gave me a better option of having the axle rebuilt which would save me money. They are very reasonable and the staff is honest and very helpful. They definitely will have my future business.

This is a family-owned business in its second generation. We have been taking cars there for probably 20 years, and now our second generation is taking their cars there.

These guys are great. We've been taking our cars here for oil changes since we moved to Minneapolis but had not needed service until now. My girlfriend owns a 2002 Lancer which i had slid into a curb getting onto 94. One of two things were wrong, the wheel was bent or the axel was bent. Amigo diagnosed the issue same day as a bent rim and had the parts (new hubcap and all) ready to be ordered when they called with an estimate (which was $50 lower from my own). The job was done not 24 hours later and UNDER the estimate. Drives like new and they put on better tires than were on there in the first place. Highly Recomended.

Others who commented have said it all: family shop, good people, courteous and respectful (not just toward women as toward men, but also toward young people), pleasant neighborhood (including places to go get a bite to eat, although Amigo has a spotless waiting area with coffee), great work, fair prices, never any unnecessary work. The one negative comment has some truth, too: you sometimes have to be assertive to get the work finished on time, because they don't like to turn down people (especially faithful customers) who walk in with emergencies.

We tried them out as a result of this website and their proximity to our home. They were less expensive than other shops we got estimates from and very honest about what was a necessary repair and what could wait. They expalined everything thoroughly and did their best to work with us when we were on a budget. We went to them several times and would still be going there if we hadn't moved to another state...

Agree with what every one else said. I took my '93 Nissan with 131 KMiles there for a CV boot, based on the recommendations from here. I also said to replace anything they felt necessary on the front end; I really thought the brake rotors should be replaced, and suspected maybe a bearing or strut by this age on the car. To my surprise, they only did the CV joint (well, the half-axle was most cost-effective), but said the rotors and other parts were ok! Very honest, very friendly, and very cooperative with a cheap-skate do-it-yourselfer like me. I may have been lucky, but they got everything done in one day, including replacing the half-axle, and radiator flush-n-fill (bring on the -35 days!!), and brake system drain-and-fill. I'm so happy to have found an honest shop, and only 4 blocks from home!

I've been with this independent shop ever since a friend recommended them to me in Summer, 1993. It's their honesty and competence that first brought me to them, but it's their unfailingly consistent competency and honesty that keep me coming back. And it's not just the outstanding automotive service. It's the outstanding customer service. They treat me like I want to be treated in any situation: respectfully and courteously. They've always talked to me at my level of understanding and have always let me make the final decision. I wish everyone I did business with treated me like this.
