The Van Raalte Family is on it's thrid generation of running the Family business - Van's Garage. Old Van opened the station in the 1920's. He once almost had his fingers closed in the hood of a model A that had been modified with a Lincoln V-12 that belonged to Al Capone. Al Capone used to vacation in Leland and stay at Dillinger's cottage. His son, John, now runs the business and John's son John (JP) also has grown up in the business. They can fix anything from a model T to a v-12 Jaguar. They are honest, dependable, and because they do all the work on my car they will tell me that I can go a little further before something needs to be replaced. Exactly what you want in a good Mechanic. I enjoy the radio show. John Watkins

I have been going to Van's Garage for repairs since 1992.
They have taken care of my Volvo, Honda, Toyota, and now
Subaru. They have also repaired my daughter's cars,
including her first - a hideous and rusted-out old
Chevrolet wagon that they recommended she junk rather than
charge her $300 to make more repairs - and her Geo Metro.
They are honest to a fault, timely with repairs, and if
a problem persists, they will continue to work at it til
it's solved, without padding the overall repair price.
They have even provided loaner when I needed to be mobile
in this rural area, and have driven me to and from the
garage when all-day repairs were necessary. Their entire
staff is friendly and knowledgeable. While you wait for a
repair, you can even walk a block to a beautiful little
beach on Lake Michigan, or stroll the leafy neighborhood
of this picturesque village.
