While driving from DC to Seattle I ran into some car trouble. Seems that I lost a lot of power, so much so that I had to floor it in 4th gear while coming down a 5% grade just to keep my speed constant. For some reason, the car would even slow down in neutral. Anyway, we stopped in Laramie, WY to have the truck looked at. Lockhart's took a look at the brakes (I thought they might be stuck) and the rear differential, among other things to see if they could find the problem. They couldn't find anything wrong, and they didn't charge me for their time. When I got back to the motel, I noticed that I was leaking coolant--back to Exxon. They took a look at it, and told me it was the water pump. They replaced the unit, flushed and refilled my radiator, and took a look at my temperature sensor (which I thought might have been malfunctioning). They did everything in about 4 hours for $170. They took the time to explain what they did, and what I might need to do in the near future. It was the best experience I've had with a mechanic shop yet.

They were great to go to! They had been recommended to me
by other graduate students in the area as being honest and
good at their job, and especially willing to help college
students who can't always afford high expense repairs. I
had an electric problem with my Ford Focus that the Ford
dealership had essential blown off when I brought it to them
which led to the problem getting worse and causing other
problems. Lockhart's was great and went through my car
with a fine tooth comb chasing wires, and, to not only fix
all the little problems that were visibly wrong, but kept on
going until they found the initial problem so it wouldn't
happen again. Once I went to pick up the car, they showed
me all the parts they replaced and explain exactly what
they did so I would understand and then only charged me a
fraction of the time. I have since recommended them to
everyone I know and will definitely be going back to them.
They treated me very fairly as a girl and a poor college
student!
