Tom runs a top-notch shop. He takes the time to find hard
problems (e.g., intermittent fuel pump issue - would only
cut out when hot). He also explains very clearly what
needs to be done and what can wait.

I love these guys. Tom remembers me by name, and thanks to
his fine work I don't have to come very often even with 10+
year old cars with far too many miles on them. He has
always provided quick, quality service and I have never felt
like I was doing any repairs that were not exactly what was
needed. (Something I cannot say the same about many other
local mechanics.) Tom is honest, lets me know what needs
doing now and what could be put off until later. I would
recommend his shop to anybody I know, and I'm confident they
would have the same experience there that I have. Thanks Tom!

I took my 93 Nissan to Tom Butler's to have a repair done
with used parts after another shop insisted that they
would only use new parts- which would have cost me $600.
Tom Butler's was on the phone ordering the used part
within 10 minutes of looking at my car. I took it back
in, they had it fixed within an hour. It ended up costing
me $170. They were very friendly, great customer
service.

We have been using Tom for years. He is probably the most
honest businessman I have ever dealt with. He understands
cars and his customers.

Tom is an excellent and trusted mechanic.
We took our van to a tire store to get new tires (Tom
doesn't do that) and that store told us that our van needed
new brakes and wanted to do it right then.
We waited and brought the van to Tom to have the brakes
replaced. He had the van for about 15 minutes and called
to ask why we thought we needed new brakes because they
looked excellent to him.
He could have easily replaced the brakes and charged us and
we would have been none the wiser.
Tom is a reputable, talented mechanic.

Solid shop. Goes the extra mile.

I recently moved to Milwaukee and did not know of any
mechanics in the area. Researched on here and found Tom and
have had nothing but good experiences. When scheduling
conflicts arose because of work, he even offered to have one
of his techs give me a ride to and from work to pickup/drop
off the car. He also realized that since my car is a bit
older that I did want to sink a lot of money in it and only
fixed what absolutely needed to be done. Excellent mechanic
whom I would recommend to anyone.

I highly recommend this shop to other females! This is an
honest shop with none of the unnecessary "you need this" or
"you need that" for your beater mumbo jumbo. My recent
service include a new rear O2 sensor (I had let this go for
about six months trying to find a good shop) and a tune up
on my '97 Dodge Avenger. I love that Tom was so respectful in
speaking with me when I made my appointment. He knew my
engine was Mitsubishi (not Dodge) the moment I walked in and
felt even more comfortable that he had done work on this
model before. They even threw in a PCV hose for me for no
charge when changing the spark plugs for the tune up. The
bays in his shop are packed for a reason. Not only were the
charges minimal, but the work on my beater was completed on
the same day I dropped off the car. I think it is also
important to note that there is a bus stop (near Teutonia &
W Parkland) within walking distance of this shop. This is my
official go-to shop for auto repairs. My partner is taking
his '07 Jeep there as well. What a refreshingly nice experience!

Since I'm mostly an idiot when it comes to car repair
problems, it's really important that my car go-to person is
honest, competent and reasonable. Tom and his staff have
always been terrific. Of course, that doesn't surprise me,
since he's a graduate of the school where I taught for 28
years!

Tom had me set up an appointment to look at a flashing air bag light that would not go off. He mentioned that if it was a sensor it may run around $300, and if it was a faulty airbag system it could be pushing $1,200. The cost for diagnostic was quoted at $40 plus tax. Tom siad that he needed a few hours to look at the van and see what the problem was. Shortly after two hours of being in the shop, he called to deliver the news. The light had reset itself once he had looked at the diagnostic results and was continuing to properly reset every time the van was turned on. In a word, the van was fixed and the flashing light was gone. Total cost for a few hours of work... $40 plus tax! He could have really stuck it to me but was as honest as the day is long. What a guy...so refreshing to be treated so well and not stuck with a high repair bill. He also mentioned that if the light came back on within a few weeks to bring it back in for a look at it again for no charge. What a fantastic place. He will be highly recommended to anyone who asks me for an honest, reliable car mechanic.
